Deadly Punch Killed Club Patron

The death of a 24-year-old Long Island man found sprawled on a sidewalk in Elmhurst on August 12 has been declared a homicide, police said.

Kevin Figueroa, 24, of Elmont, was found unconscious and unresponsive with a massive head wound at about 4:30 a.m. on August 12, sprawled on Queens Boulevard near Hilyer Street – just a few feet from the Vanity Gentlemen’s Club, police said.
Figueroa was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he died a short while later.
Cops arrested Francisco Flores, 20, after surveillance footage showed him punching Figueroa during a fight outside the club early on August 12.
Police said the dispute broke out outside the club when a man tried to start a conversation with Flores’ girlfriend. Figueroa had left the club moments before, and was standing a few feet away when the fight began, a police source said. “He wasn’t involved in the fight, but he took a punch from Flores that threw him backward, slamming his head on the sidewalk,” the source said. “He never got up again.”
Flores was charged with assault at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court, where he was released without bail Prosecutors are now expected to upgrade the charges, a law enforcement source said.
