In 1944, ten-year-old Lillian and her mother join other Jewish refugees invited to the United States on temporary visas to stay at Fort Ontario, New York. Eventhough they have been given a golden ticket promising a brighter and better future with improved living conditions, they worry about what will happen to them after the war.

Seeking Safety (Silver Moon Press), by author Judith Eichler Weber with illustrations by John F. Martin, is a delightful journey of a mother and daughter trying to find their wa in a strange new land.

Judith Eichler Weber was born in Queens, New York. She, her husband Larry and their cat are residents of Williamstown, Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Columbia University with a B.F.A. and M.A. in theatre arts and teaching. Her first book and only adult book was Profits at your Doorstep. Since then she has written six books for children. Two are historical novels, Seeking Safety and Forbidden Friendship. Dating and Changing Loves were for the Scholastic teen series, Cheerleaders and I Dedicate this Song to You was based on her two sons' rock band and Melting Pots connected stories with recipes for young children. Judith has taught creative writing in New York City public schools and visits classrooms in New York, Great Neck, Williamstown and the Florida Keys. She has two married sons and five grandchildren. Presently she is writing a weekly adult humor column.
