LIC Hotel Scrapped For Office Building

Developer Barone Management has scrapped plans for its 199-room “Dram Hotel” at 9-03 44th Road - a move that real estate experts say could spell the beginning of the end for the Long Island City hotel boom.

Barone filed plans with the city Department of Buildings on July 21 to develop 85,000-square-feet of office space at the site.

The proposed three-story building would be 51-feet-tall, a far cry from the 11-story, 137-foot-tall hotel originally planned to open at the site. The lot is currently vacant, according to city records.

The change in plans by Barone Management was first reported on the Real Deal website.
