Summer In The City

Summer, as always, is speeding by. Make the most of it right here in the most beautiful borough in New York City. Don’t let the gorgeous, but fleeting summer days pass you by. If you haven’t already taken advantage of all Queens has to offer, start making some plans! Consult our weekly Community Calendar online (QGazette.com) and our Queens Scene magazine (the glossy, tote-able hard-copy or online, at QueensScene.com). Where do we begin to list all opportunities for making good memories of this summer? The great outdoors we should think! We have more than our share of delightful, serene parks to hang out in; where we can enjoy movies, concerts, fairs and festivals. There are even workshops, yoga and tai chi, and arts and crafts to try. There are plenty of sporting events to take in or even take part in. The Police Athletic League continues its Playstreets and summer camps. And we can’t forget Rockaway Beach and our numerous pools. Many parks have bike and boat rentals. Stroll around and window shop in our eclectic boutiques. If the outdoors is not really your thing, there are films galore in lovely air-conditioned theaters throughout the borough, and concerts at numerous venues. Take up a new hobby this summer at Queens Library, which offers cultural activities and educational programs, as well as reading material. And as you explore our neighborhoods, enjoy the fine dining and scrumptious snacks, desserts and potables. As the day progresses, the teeming nightlife will round out your celebrations and get-togethers.
