Two Men Injured In Corona Gunfire

By Liz Goff

Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a Long Island Rail Road footbridge in Corona on July 19, striking one man in the head and another in the cheek, authorities said.

Cops said the two victims and an unidentified friend were crossing the footbridge at 94th Street and 45th Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. on July 19 when the gunfire erupted.

The uninjured man raced to the nearby 110th Precinct to report the shootings, police said.

FDNY officials said both victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where a 21-year-old man was listed in stable condition with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his head.

A second, 24-year-old man was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the cheek, a fire spokesperson said.

Cops said the gunman fled in an unknown direction immediately following the shootings.
