Sunnyside Liquor Store Robbery

By Liz Goff
Police are searching for a man who held up a Sunnyside liquor store on July 14 – and then robbed a store clerk before fleeing the scene.

Cops said the suspect walked into the Choice Discount Liquor Store at 43-42 48th Street at about 5:10 p.m. on July 14, where he threatened the clerk and demanded cash from the store register.

The clerk complied and handed over approximately $100 cash to the suspect, who then forced the employee into a rear room, police said. Cops said the suspect grabbed $80 cash and a debit card from the clerk before running from the store, running southbound on 48th Street.

The thief is described as a black male, 25-35 years old, 6-feet to 6-ffeet, 3-inches tall and 190-210 pounds. He was wearing black sunglasses and white ear pods, a dark colored trench coat, blue jeans, a black baseball cap, black sneakers and a gray backpack with a red stripe at the time of the holdup.

The clerk was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene, a fire spokesperson said.
