Addabbo, Jr. and Assemblyman Michael Miller to swear in the new Board of Directors for the 104th Precinct’s Civilian Observation Patrol (104COP).

“It is an honor to administer the oath to the 104COP’s new Board of Directors. We are proud to have the strongest and longest serving community patrol in the city, and I am very grateful for their work and partnership,” Crowley said. “Thank you to President Mark Pearson and every member of 104COP for their dedication to the public safety of our neighbors.”

This Fiscal Year, Crowley allocated $9,500 for 104COP in her discretionary budget. This will go towards enhanced resources for the civilian patrol and assist in their abilities to observe and help throughout the community.

The city’s budget, which went into effect July 1, also includes $5.6 billion for the New York City Police Department, an 8% increase from last year. This will afford the NYPD the ability to bring on 126 new positions, enhance opioid enforcement, increase domestic violence prevention, gunshot detection and more. It will also ensure the department can assign school crossing guards to every post, install bullet-resistant windows on patrol vehicles, provide training for peace officers within the Department of Homeless Services, and enhance Vision Zero efforts.
