Hunt Gunman In Ravenswood Murder

Police are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a gunman who opened fire inside a building at the Ravenswood Houses on July 16, killing a 26-year-old tenant of the Astoria housing project.

Residents called 911 shortly after noon on July 16, after shots rang out inside a building at 35-21 21st Street, police said.

NYPD Housing Police Officers who responded to the scene found Terrel Smith inside the building, unconscious and unresponsive. The shooter fired four rounds, striking Smith three times in the torso, police said.

Smith was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he died a short while later, an FDNY spokesperson said.

Police had not made any arrests as of Monday evening. An investigation is ongoing.

The Hotline is offering a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman.
