NYC Council Majority Leader and Councilman for the 26th District Jimmy Van Bramer on July 10 filed for reelection with the New York City Board of Elections with 6,500 petition signatures. These signatures were collected by more than 150 grassroots volunteers from throughout the 26th District.

“The past four weeks, my grassroots team and I have worked tirelessly, campaigning at every subway station in the district, going door-to-door, working with community leaders and resistance groups, and campaigning at major community events in every neighborhood in our district,” Majority Leader Van Bramer said. “I am incredibly honored at the incredible number of people who have volunteered for me and signed my petitions this past month. This is what democracy looks like.”

This week, Majority Leader Van Bramer was also endorsed by the following elected officials and organizations: Planned Parenthood NYC Votes, Northern Regular Democratic Club, DC37, Teamsters Joint Council 16, PSC-CUNY, NYS Laborers, LIUNA, Borough President Melinda Katz and Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas.

“I’m proud of all that we have accomplished together and deeply appreciate the support our campaign has received from progressive elected officials in Queens, our brothers and sisters in organized labor, and other leading progressive organizations,” Van Bramer said in response to this week’s endorsements.
