Queens Council On The Arts: Get Grants; Commission Artists, More!

Are You Interested in Commissioning Artists to Create New Art Works?

QCA announced the launch of the Artist Commissioning Program (ACP), in support of Queens artists to create new, original works to be interpreted for theatre, dance and music. QCA is seeking community members with a passion for the arts to be selected as Art Producers for the Artist Commissioning Program (ACP). Need Money for Your Art?
The QAF Grant supports Queens-based cultural projects by individual artists, collectives, artist-nonprofit partnerships and non-profit organizations meeting eligibility requirements, and that offer distinctive cultural programs for the Queens community. Under the category of Organization Grants there are Art Access Grants and Community Arts Grants There are also Individual Grants for Community Engagement Commissioning and New Work Grants. All 1st time applicants and applicants that HAVE NOT applied in the last 2 years MUST attend an application information session. RSVP online.
Welcome QCA's new Grants Assistant
Dan Bamba will assist Lynn Lobell with the Queens Arts Fund. Dan has 3 years of experience working in a contemporary art gallery as an artists liaison and exhibitions assistant. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Art History from Amherst College. You can contact Dan at DBamba@queenscouncilarts.org
Under the Hood Project Budgets
During the “Under the Hood” presentation, attendees will have the chance to experience critiques of up to 3 sample budget submissions in an open forum. The first 3 people to register can submit their project budgets for public review by QCA staff. Submissions must be made by July 11, 2017 at 5pm to

LAB
LAB presents environmental artist Okechukwu Ofiaeli. The southeast Queens-based artist is a QCA QAF grant award winner and has also taught in the SU-CASA program. At this LAB presentation Okechukwu will be sharing the latest developments of his QAF grant-funded work for community feedback.

Creative Conversations
"Creative Conversations" is a signature program of the Queens Council on the Arts. It is a monthly dinner meeting where artists have the opportunity to network, organize, meet community stakeholders, and develop strategies for community advocacy. It is open to the general public and artists working in all disciplines are welcome to attend. Participating artists who are interested will be interviewed and featured on Clocktower Radio and QCAʼs podcast.

High School to Art School Fundraiser
Pilsner Urquell, Reyes Brewing Co. and Queens Homebrewers Club Brewstoria are teaming up to bring you the hottest beer festival this summer at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria NY. All for a good cause! Your donation will fund the QCAs' High School to Art School program. The High School to Art School program (HS2AS) is an annually, fully-subsidized portfolio development program that provides qualified high school juniors and seniors with the art skills training, mentorship, essay writing techniques, college application assistance and financial aid planning necessary to gain acceptance into competitive art colleges.
