DeBlasio & Chancellor Farina Announce "Physical Education For All" Program

A few weeks ago the mayor and chancellor announced that all public schools would be air conditioned by 2021, Today they meet and greeted PS81 students in a forth floor makeshift gym and then visited the school library where they announced that PE Physical Education was missing from the lives of our young and that his administration was going to do something about it.

Surrounded by City Public Advocate Letitia James, and NY State Assembly Member Cathy Nolan, Chair of the NY State Committee on Education.

"We will finally have universal PE in every school in the City of New York," said a very smiley Mayor Bill de Blaseo."It will teach them habits they will need for the rest of their lives. The mayor gave credit to the teachers and administrators at PS 81 for providing physical education to the students in a makeshift gym, where the mayor met the children taking  a sports activities class. The mayor was accompanied to the makeshift gym by School Chancellor Carman Farina, Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan, NYC Public Advocate Letitia James and Ernie Logan, President of the CSA, Council of School Administrators and Supervisors of New York City.

The Mayor also announced that the city will break ground beginning tomorrow for a new gymnasium to be built for PS81.
