Central Astoria LDC’s Multicultural Celebration

The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition (CALDC), an Astoriabased not-for-profit organization, announced that it will host a Multicultural Celebration on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Dutch Kills Playground on Crescent Street and 36th Avenue in Long Island City. There will be representatives from a great variety of countries demonstrating the music and dance of their cultures, reflecting the rich diversity that makes up Astoria and Long Island City.

The performers will include Chinese Theatre Works with songs and dance, Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s traditional music and dance, Ayazamana performing the music and dance of Ecuador, Udichi School Of Performing Arts with music and dance from Bangladesh, KUD Halaturko’s traditional Bosnian music and dance, Barynya Entertainment with songs and dance of Russia, McManus Irish Dance School, and Braata Productions will showcase music and songs of countries of the Caribbean. The event will also feature balloon artistry and face painting for children.

The program is funded by NYC Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, through the Cultural Immigrant Initiative, and in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
