Call For ‘Amber Alert’ System For Hit-Runs

The City Council is considering passing two bills that would help law enforcement capture hit-run drivers.

One bill calls for a $1,000 reward for anyone providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of hit-run drivers, while another calls for the establishment of an Amber Alert type system to inform motorists of the location serious hit-run accidents. The measure would prevent motorists from speeding through the site of the accidents, saving victims from further injury.

Both measures were presented at a City Council hearing on May 2.
