Gianaris, Human Rights Commission Speak At Dem Clubs’ Joint Meeting



The Jefferson Democratic Club and the FDR Democratic Association held a joint meeting at the Clearview Park Golf Course Clubhouse on April 20. The first speaker at the meeting, state Senator Michael Gianaris, discussed how the Senate Republican/IDC Coalition joined together to block numerous progressive initiatives in the recently passed state budget. The next speaker, Franck D. Joseph II, Managing Director of the NYC Commission on Human Rights, discussed the Commission’s mission, as well as its Bias Response Team, and its efforts to fight the alarming rise in hate crimes in New York City since the presidential election.
