Cop Nabs Suspect In Jackson Heights Attacks

By Liz Goff
Police arrested a 50-year-old, unstable Queens man on April 12, less than two days after he attacked two pedestrians in Jackson Heights.

Cops said a local teenager was walking on 37th Avenue near 86th Street in Jackson Heights at about 12:50 p.m. on April 12 when Fabricio Pozo approached her and slapped her on the face.
Pozo then stormed off, but was captured on surveillance footage carrying out the unprovoked attack, police said. The victim was uninjured and refused medical attention at the scene.
Twenty minutes later, Pozo walked up to a 6-year-old man on 37th Avenue near 84th Street and punched the man in the face. The victim suffered bruises and a small laceration and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center in stable condition.
Cops said Pozo was again captured on surveillance footage attacking the second victim. He fled west on 37th Avenue toward 83rd Street following the attack, police said.
A street-smart Police Officer on routine patrol out of the 115th Precinct spotted Pozo on 37th Avenue on the morning of April 21, police said. The officer recognized Pozo as the attacker in the surveillance footage and arrested him on multiple counts of assault and harassment.
