Public Applauds ‘Good Call’ By Police

Local residents are applauding the actions of police at the 114th Precinct who stopped their pursuit of a crazed suspect to prevent injury to an innocent bystander.

Cops at the 114th Precinct were responding to a burglary report at the Mermaids Bar on 31st Street near 31st Avenue at about 6:30 a.m. on April 5, when they spotted a man speeding away from the scene in a white Chrysler 300, police said.

The cops tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped away and struck a vehicle in the intersection of Broadway and Crescent Street and fled the scene, police aid.

The driver of the car struck by the suspect was taken to a local hospital and treated for a minor injury.

Police stopped pursuit of the suspect after he struck the vehicle, authorities said.
