Cops Hunt Sunnyside ‘Bear-Hug’ Suspect

Police are searching for a man who followed a woman into the lobby of her Sunnyside apartment building on March 12.

Cops said the 28-year-old victim walked into the lobby of her building at 43rd Avenue near 42nd Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 12, when the suspect ran through the closing door, pushed her up against a wall and bear-hugged her before placing his hand over her mouth.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect struggling with the victim, who eventually ran away, headed south on 42nd Street, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5-feet, 5-inches tall, with brown hair, brown eyes and a slight moustache. He was wearing a black jacket, blue pants and black shoes at the time of the attack, police said.
