Astoria Man Critical In 30th Avenue Stabbing

By Liz Goff
A 32-year-old Astoria man remains hospitalized in critical condition this week, following a late night knife attack on the 30th Avenue commercial strip, police said.

Cops said the victim and a second, 39-year-old man were walking on 30th Avenue near 38th Street at about 10:35 p.m. on February 20 when an unknown assailant approached and stabbed them.

The 32-year-old man suffered one stab wound to the chest and the 39-year-old victim was stabbed in his left hand, police said.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital where the 32-year-old was listed in critical condition. The second victim was listed in stable condition at the same hospital, police said.

Investigators are trying to determine if the attack was the result of a foiled robbery attempt, or if the two men were singled out for the attack, a police spokesperson said.
