Braving The Cold To Protect The Trees

Known for their smart license plates, the HueCore team took a break from the job to create lasting change for their hometown. From 11 am to 1 pm in Astoria Park, members used their innovative skills to support the sustainability of a new generation of trees. Sustainability is at the core of this young company, as HueCore Inc.’s mission is to design products that will not require you to purchase new generation products on an annual basis. In coordination with NYCParks and Mulchfest 2017, residents of Astoria brought in their Christmas trees so that they may be converted into mulch. Afterwards, volunteers spread the mulch around young trees to ensure they are able to absorb moisture over the dry winter season. On a day when the snow fell harder than it had all year, with gusts of wind and a windchill factor in the low teens, the HueCore team truly did their part. Few companies would maintain an event with these bitter conditions, and almost none would ask their leadership to attend. Not only did most of HueCore Inc.’s leadership attend, but they aligned their mission directly with their own community. Here’s the best part: they all had an absolute blast.
