Newtown Creek Alliance’s Accomplishments
Over the past 12 months, the Newtown Creek Alliance (NCA) collected over 2,000 pieces of water quality data; ran multiple day-long workshops and public events; brought over 1,100 people out to the Creek on over 30 tours by land and water; identified over two dozen sources of active pollution impacting the Creek; and continued their work to restore public access and ecological function along the Creek’s shorelines. “We look forward to continuing this momentum and expanding our programs into 2017. It will also prove to be a crucial year for advancing the Superfund and Long Term Control Plan cleanups, where NCA has provided a leading and impactful voice. As we look forward to the coming year, we invite supporters of NCA’s mission to Restore, Reveal and Revitalize Newtown Creek to consider making an end-of-year donation to further our efforts,” the organization stated.
