Hunt For 31st Street Family Store Bandit

Police are searching for a suspect who threatened to shoot an employee at a local discount store during a November 30th robbery.

Officers said the suspect walked into a Family Dollar store at 35-27 31st Street in Long Island City at about 2 pm on November 30th, where he demanded cash from a cashier, and threatened to shoot the worker if he failed to comply.

The 27-year-old cashier handed over $176 cash from the register and the suspect fled the store, police said. The suspect did not display a weapon during the robbery.

The store is located less than 500 feet from the 36th Avenue/Washington Avenue station on the 31st Street elevated subway, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10” and 180 pounds. He was wearing glasses with round, metallic frames, dark-colored gloves, dark clothing and a dark-colored hood pulled over his head and mouth.
