Ground Broken On New Hotel At JFK Airport

Queens Borough President Melinda Katz was among those in attendance when Governor Andrew Cuomo presided over the December 15th groundbreaking ceremony for a $265 million renovation project that will convert the iconic TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport into a hotel. The Flight Center is a New York City landmark that was designed by legendary architect Eero Saarinen, and was used as an airline terminal from 1962-2001. The new hotel, expected to open in late 2018, will have 505 guest rooms and 40,000 square feet of event and meeting space. The project will create 3,700 jobs, including union construction and hotel jobs.
