Mets Score High With Holiday Coat Drive

By Liz Goff
The Queens Boys of Summer hit a home run on December 10, hosting the NY Mets seventh annual winter warm up holiday coat drive.

Mets players handed out vouchers redeemable for two tickets to a game in April 2017 to anyone who donated ‘gently used” coats to the drive.

The team’s 2016 coat drive, sponsored in conjunction with New York Cares, scored nearly 2,000 winter coats for needy New Yorkers.

All coats collected through the drive were donated to New York Cares, a local nonprofit group that serves more than 100 diverse nonprofits, public schools and other organizations throughout the metropolitan area.

New York Cares has collected more than one million coats since 1989, all donated to homeless shelters, schools and community organizations that serve New Yorkers in need.
