Livery Driver Busted In Cop Assault

By Liz Goff
A livery cab driver illegally hustling fares at LaGuardia Airport struck a Port Authority officer and dragged him a short distance after the cop tried to arrest him, authorities said.

Cops said Macias Rubin, 30, was working out a deal with two passengers who were heading into Manhattan at about 1 p.m. on November 8, when the officer spotted the transaction, police said.

When the officer reached into an open window in Rubio’s cab, he hit the gas and sped off with the passengers inside, and the cop clinging to the side of the 2015 Acura RDX.

Rubio hit the brakes a short distance away and fled the cab, police said.

Port Authority officers gave chase and grabbed Rubio minutes later. He was charged with assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and reckless driving at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Couro.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with injuries to his shoulder, knee and right hand, police said.
