City Council Member Peter Koo joined with staff and students from Junior High School 189 on November 14th to cut the ribbon on the school’s new library and technology initiative. With $775,000 in funding from Council Member Koo, the library and technology initiative included the rollout of new Apple laptop computers. At the ribbon-cutting, Principal Diaz-Burgos presented Koo with an Appreciation Award, “In grateful recognition of your tireless support of JHS 189Q, making it possible to provide our students with the educational technology requirements of the 21st century.”

Koo stated, “Each budgetary cycle, the first phone calls I make are to the school principals in Council District 20 to make sure they have the tools they need to provide our children with the best opportunities to succeed. Learning space and technology often top these lists, so I’m proud to be able to assist JHS 189 with these essential resources.”
