Sonny, the owner, is from Bombay, India. He said that his mother inspired him, his brother and sister to cook when he was only 15 years old, and that he grew to love the food. He came to the US in 1993, 23 years ago, and started working with friends who owned a restaurant. Now a resident of NYC, opening Café Istanbul is the realization of Sonny’s long-held dream.
