Cops Hunt Man In Teen Lure Attempt

By Liz Goff
Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a 13-year-old girl away from the lobby of her apartment building while she waited for a school bus on the morning of October 6.

Cops said the girl was inside the building lobby near 81st Street and 41st Avenue in Elmhurst at about 6:15 a.m. on October 6 when the man approached her.

A police source said the man told the girl, “Don’t go to school. Come with me. I’ll buy you anything you want,” the source said. “I don’t care if you’re only 13.”

The man tried repeatedly to lure the girl out of the building, but she refused, police said.

The man fled on foot when the girl ran to her school bus, police said.

The teen told school administrators what happened and they alerted police.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, five-feet, eight-inches tall and approximately 140 pounds.

He was wearing a black jacket with white striped down both sleeves and a white, fabric baseball cap at the time of the incident.
