Early that morning, 500 students, along with Council Member Rory Lancman, came together to create a giant peace sign. The Lennon Bus also made a $1,000 check and instrument donation to the school to support creativity and digital media education.

Throughout the day a group of students took part in the “Canon Educational Experience,” gaining the opportunity to work with the latest Canon cameras on their own digital media project. Another group of students worked with the Lennon Bus engineers to create an original song and shoot a video for it.

Come Together: NYC (September 15 – October 19) is a month-long tour of peace, love and creativity as the Lennon Bus invites New York to come together to create original music, videos, poetry and art around the “Come Together” theme. The projects will focus on telling powerful and moving stories of NYC immigrants as part of a Cultural Immigrant Initiative through the NYC Council and Department of Cultural Affairs. Their stories will be featured in a compilation of original music and videos, interviews, art works, photos and poetry which will premiere at the conclusion of the tour at an event hosted by the Lennon Bus at the Museum of Moving Image/Kaufman Astoria Studios. The initiative has been produced in support of music education and in association with Canon U.S.A., Juniper Networks, the NYC Council, the Mayor’s Office, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the NY State Assembly, Securematics, Other World Computing (OWC) and Kaufman Astoria Studios.
