Friends Of Maple Grove’s Annual ‘Trunk Or Treat’

A Trunk or Treat is a Halloween event that is often a community-sponsored event. The Friends of Maple Grove and various others are sponsoring the 2016 Maple Grove Trunk or Treat. Volunteers will bring a decorated vehicle and park in a secured closed off area. They will open their trunks, or the backs of their vehicles, and set up. A folding chair or two come in handy as the vehicle should always be monitored. When they open for the general public they will pass out candy from their trunks and have people view their artistic efforts. The main goal of the event is to provide a safe, family-friendly environment for Trick-or-Treaters! Also, it is a way to collect food for the needy. The event is free but is also a community Food Drive to help the feed the hungry. There will be a table set up at the Lefferts Blvd. and Kew Gardens Road Entrance to accept canned food donations from the general public which will be given to a local Food Pantry.

The event will take place in the Victorian Monumental Park Section of the cemetery. All participants should use the Lefferts Blvd. and Kew Gardens Road Entrance. NOTE: Monumental Park will be closed to all vehicular traffic when the families enter for Trunk or Treat 2 to 5:00 PM. The vehicles will line up along the main road inside Monumental Park a fair distance apart so that the treat or treaters can travel from one trunk to the next.

• Vehicle/Trunk SET-UP 1:00 to 2:00 PM
• Trunk Judging 4:00 to 5:00 PM
• Trunk or Treat 2:00 to 5:00 PM

When it comes to decorating your vehicle there are the obvious choices, decorating for a Halloween theme, pumpkins, spider webbing, spiders, brooms, bats, cauldrons, etc...

NOTE: So many of the trick or treaters will be preschoolers and toddlers, so it is best to leave out the really scary items, like blood and gore. Keep decorations to a minimum on the scary meter! No blood or guts, violent images that would cause kids to have bad dreams. This event is for families and they want the kids, no matter how young, to have a great time. Remember it is a FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT! Be creative with your ideas. Please check out the sample pictures provided below. The best-decorated trunk will win a prize so decorate to win! The Friends of Maple Grove will donate a $100 cash prize.
