Hunt Passenger In Deadly Teen Hit-Run

By Liz Goff
Police at the NYPD Accident Investigation Squad are searching for a man captured in a photo exiting a car that struck and killed a Queens teenager on December 15.

Cops are seeking to question the man who was riding in the front passenger seat of a back Toyota Camry that struck and killed Ovidio Jaramillo, 17, at about 10:50 p.m. on December 15.

The teen was attempting to cross the intersection of Northern Boulevard near Junction Boulevard when the westbound Toyota slammed into him, police said. The driver sped westbound along Northern Boulevard after fatally striking the well-liked teen, police said.

An eyewitness later snapped a photo of the passenger exiting the Toyota and handed it over to investigators, a law enforcement source said.

“The detectives want to question the man in the photo,” the source said. “They’re hoping he will do the right thing by reaching out to them.”

The teen was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

State and local lawmakers and neighborhood activists are calling on the Department of Transportation to install additional safety measures and create a “slow zone” at the deadly intersection that connects Jackson Heights with Corona and Astoria Boulevard.
