2016 Hispanic Heritage Awards

Council Member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland has invited the public join her in honoring outstanding community leaders for the role they have played in the progress of the Latino community. The 2016 Hispanic Heritage Awards will be held on Wednesday, October 5th, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 pm at Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Ferreras-Copeland said, “The barriers they have broken and passion for the betterment of the lives of others uplift us all.”

Hispanic Heritage Awards will honor:

Adriano Espaillat, Congressman-elect (D-13), the first Dominican elected to Congress;

Carlos Menchaca, Council Member (D-38), Chair, Immigration Committee;

Lorelei Salas, Commissioner, NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs;

Albert Perna, Founder, Perna Foundation for Kids and Chair, CB 4 Parks Committee

Veronica Ramirez, Founder, Mujeres en Movimiento;

Luis Tolentino, Pro-Skater, former World Record Holder.

There will be shuttle bus service provided.
