New ‘Brunch Laws’ In Effect

New York’s new “Brunch Bill” has just gone into effect, as of September 7. The bill was signed by Governor Cuomo in June, allowing establishments to serve alcohol to patrons on Sundays at 10 am, two hours earlier than the 80-year-old “Blue Laws” previously allowed. Now customers can order a Mimosa or Bloody Mary at 10 am instead of having to wait until noon. Calling the old laws “arcane and burdensome,” Cuomo said this move will set the stage for future growth.
