Teller ‘No’ Thwarts Astoria Bank Robbery

By Liz Goff
A brazen teller at a Chase Bank branch in Astoria thwarted a robbery attempt on September 9, by simply saying “No,” police said.

Cops said the suspect walked into the Chase Bank branch at 22-30 31st Street on September 9, walked up to a teller and demanded cash.

The teller stunned the suspect by saying “No,” police said. “Eyewitnesses told investigators that the man just stood there, staring at the teller – like he wasn’t sure what to do next,” a police source said.

The suspect suddenly turned and ran from the bank empty-handed, police said.

He suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his mid-30s, 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 180 pounds.
