30th Avenue Fruit Market To Close

The owner of a parcel at 32-12 30th Avenue in Astoria recently filed plans to build a three-story, mixed-use development at the site.

Plans call for a three-story building with a basement on 5,586-square-feet of space. The building will feature 3,227-square-feet of residential space with two apartments on the second and third floors, and 2,358-square-feet of commercial space on the ground floor.

The Ellinika Agora Fruit and Vegetable Market currently occupies the ground floor of the existing building. A store manager said it is unclear if the market would return to the location when the new construction is completed.

It is also unclear when tenants that live on the second and third floors of the existing building will be forced to move to accommodate the construction.
