With the calendar showing Election Day rapidly closing in on New York City voters, the Downstate New York Division of the Polish American Congress kicked off its 2016 Voter Registration Drive aimed at the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn.
Named to head the Voter Registration Committee was Grazyna (Grace) Michalski, who acknowledged the committee has some intensive work ahead of it. “Completed registration forms have to be submitted before mid-October so time is short,” she said.
As was the custom in previous years, the bilingual group does most of its enrollments on Sunday mornings outside of Catholic Churches which have significant numbers of Polish speaking members. “Although the presidential race is the one currently getting the most attention, local office candidates seem to be getting a fair share of scrutiny, too,” said Michalski. The first church on the Committee’s list this year was Holy Cross in Maspeth.
