Give the #Flushinggraffitibusters a call to bust graffiti off your wall. Photos Courtesty of the Flushing BID and Councilman Koo City Council Member Peter Koo and the Flushing Business Improvement District announced the cleanup of one of downtown Flushing’s frequent graffiti targets – the Main Street LIRR station – and the start of a graffiti cleanup up campaign in Council District 20.

Council Member Koo expanded the BID’s sanitation and graffiti removal services by $46,000 this year, bringing his total BID funding since taking office to $384,362. The BID recently put this funding to use in the cleanup at the Main Street LIRR station, as well as graffiti removal on 41st Avenue and Main Street, and the first floor of the abandoned RKO Keith’s on Main Street and Northern Boulevard.

Koo stated, “Graffiti removal needs to be consistent if we are to discourage would-be vandals from repeating their offense, so it’s important that the community get involved. Let us know where you see graffiti by tagging my office or the BID on Twitter or Facebook with #Flushinggraffitibusters, and we’ll make sure to flag your location for removal.”

Tina Lee, Flushing BID Co-Chair, stated, “The Flushing BID has been working actively with Council Member Koo to combat graffiti and other quality of life issues in downtown Flushing and continues to do so. Property owners in Flushing can contact the BID for graffiti removal service at no cost to them.”

As part of the campaign, the community can tag the Flushing BID on Twitter (@FlushingBID) and Council Member Koo (@CMPeterKoo) with #Flushinggraffitibusters and include the location of the graffiti. Those without social media access can call the BID at 718-888-1805, or CM Koo at 718-888- 8747.
