Public Hearing Re: Proposed Homeless Residence

In response to a proposal by the New York City Department of Homeless Services and the Human Resources Administration, to utilize the Holiday Inn Express at 59-40 55th Road, in Maspeth, as a residence for homeless couples or for parents with an adult child, Community Board 5 will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, August 31, beginning at 7 pm.
The hearing will be conducted in the  auditorium of Maspeth High School, which is located at 54-40 74th Street in Maspeth.
Gary Giordano, Board 5 District Manager, stated that this will be a formal opportunity for local residents and business representatives to hear the specifics of this proposal, to ask questions of city agency representatives regarding this important matter, and to testify for or against this proposal. He further stated that every effort will be made to have this hearing conducted respectfully and thoughtfully.
Anyone wishing to speak at the hearing is asked to register in advance by calling Community Board 5 at 718-366-1834. Depending on the number of speakers from the public registering, speaking time will be limited to three minutes or less for each speaker. Speakers are asked to provide a copy  of their testimony at the time of the hearing.
Please note that banners, posters and/or signs of any kind will not be permitted during CB5 hearings and all attendees are subject to the rules and regulations which govern CB5.
