Thief Threatens To Kill Straphanger On LIC Platform

Police are searching for a man who threatened to kill a straphanger on a Long Island City subway platform if she refused to hand over her cash, wallet and credit cards.

Cops said the 35-year-old woman was waiting on the Queens-bound platform at the 36th Street M/R subway station at about 1:30 p.m. on July 26th when the man approached and threatened to kill her if she refused to comply with his demands.

The terrified woman handed over her cash and property and the man fled in an unknown direction on Northern Boulevard, police said.

The wallet contained $1,350, a check for $481 and the victim’s credit cards, police said.

The woman was not injured in the attack.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male, 17-30-years-old, 125 pounds and 5-feet, 5-inches to 5-feet, y-inches tall, with short, dark hair. He was wearing a green T-shirt, green tank top and white pants at the time of the robbery.
