Ex-Boyfriend Faces Arson, Animal Cruelty Charges

By Liz Goff
Police last week arrested a heartless 28-year-old Queens man who punched the mother of his child in the face, assaulted the woman’s brother and set fire to her apartment at the Queensbridge Houses on July 21, severely burning her dog.

Cops said Arian Drew, 21, her brother and child hid in a bedroom at the apartment and called 911 following the July 21 assaults by Nathaniel Mack.

Moments later, the victims spotted smoke pouring into the room and opened a door to see a sofa engulfed in flames, police said. The victims fled the apartment, leaving Draw’s pit bull mix behind.

The dog, a Yorkshire-Yorkshire Terrier mix named Shawny Pawprint, was trapped in the blaze and suffered severe burns to her head, police said.

The pup was taken to an ASPCA hospital where she was placed in intensive care, an ASPCA spokesperson said.

Mack was charged with felony animal cruelty, arson and assault at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
