Passenger Critical In GCP Flip Crash

By Liz Goff
An unlicensed driver crashed his BMW into a Nissan Maxima on the Grand Central Parkway (GCP) on July 16, leaving his passenger in critical condition and landing himself behind bars, police said.

Cops said the BMW driver, in his 20s, was headed west on the Grand Central Parkway in Astoria early Saturday, when he crashed into the Nissan Maxima. The impact caused the BMW to flip over, critically injuring the passenger.

The passenger was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center with critical, non-life-threatening injuries, a fire spokesperson said.

The Nissan driver was not seriously injured in the crash.

The unidentified driver was taken into custody after police discovered he was driving without a license, police said.
