Homeless Man Busted In Subway Shove

By Liz Goff
Police arrested a 44-year-old homeless man last week, who allegedly shoved a 69-year-old man down the steps of a Long Island City subway station.

Prosecutors said Eqwuatu Amalu, 69, was walking toward the platform at the eastbound 36th Street W/R subway station at about 1:30 p.m. on July 6, when Jerome Blakely approached him from behind and shoved the senior citizen down the staircase.

Cops said Amalu identified Blakely as his attacker, and said the two men did not exchange words before the attack.

Amalu was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens where he was listed in stable condition with a broken nose, a fractured knee, a fractured hand and bruises to his forehead.

Blakely, who prosecutors say is homeless, was charged with assault at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court, where he was held without bail.
