The Queens Museum announced the schedule for its 2016 edition of Passport Thursdays. This annual tradition celebrates the diverse culture of Queens with film screenings and live performances throughout the summer.

“As a Museum, we are lucky enough to call the most diverse area in the country ‘home,’ and the films and performances of Passport Thursdays highlight the global cultures that are local to us,” said Laura Raicovich, President and Executive Director of the Queens Museum. “This summer, we invite audiences to travel with us all over the world.”

The full itinerary for 2016 Passport Thursdays is as follows:

July 28: Ecuador

Celebrate the family traditions of Ecuador with “Cesar’s Grill,” which explores how a father and son’s relationship grows from a culture clash. Ñukanchik Llakta Wawakuna folkloric dance performs. Co-presented with CinemaTropical.

August 4: Ethiopia

The bond between an Ethiopian boy and his sheep is put to the test as he works to save his best friend and return home in “Lamb.” Ethiopian jazz band Arki Sound performs. Co-presented with the New York African Film Festival.

August 11: India

In “Dhanak/Rainbow,” star power is put to the test in this colorful coming of age story as orphaned siblings travel through India to meet a Bollywood celebrity to restore the brother’s eyesight. Ajna Dance Company performs. Co-presented with the IndoAmerican Arts Council.

August 18: Taiwan

How old is too old to learn to ride a bike? In “Go Grandriders!” a group of senior citizens learn to ride motorcycles for a 13-day tour of Taiwan. Presenting traditional music from different Taiwanese ethnic groups, Yu Han Su Band performs. Co-presented with the Taiwanese American Arts Council and the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office.
