PERALTA LEGISLATION SEEKS TO REMEDY ‘INJUSTICES’ IN NEWSTAND LICENSING LAW: In light of the recent installation of a newsstand on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights without community approval, state Senator Jose Peralta (D–East Elmhurst) will unveil legislation to fix current injustices in New York City’s newsstand licensing law. Senator Peralta, Councilman Daniel Dromm, Community Board 3, the Jackson Heights Beautification Group, community members and business owners also call for the relocation of the newsstand and gathered at 76-10 37th Avenue, in front of the Foodtown Supermarket in Jackson Heights, last Friday to announce the legislation.
