Come Celebrate Louis Armstrong With Dr. John

As the world remembers jazz luminary Louis Armstrong, who passed away almost exactly 45 years ago, the 3rd Annual Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival where Satchmo’s deep impact on American culture will be celebrated on Saturday, July 16 in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the site of the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs, steps away from the USTA and Citi Field, home of the Mets. This festival will include headlining performances by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John, Soulive and Kermit Ruffins, as well as great food, and lots of family activities, including the Big Apple Circus. Confirmed food trucks include: Gorilla Cheese NYC, Andy’s Italian Ices, Luke’s Lobster and Nuchas Empanadas. Louis Armstrong has deep ties to Queens – he lived at 34-56 107th Street in Corona from 1943 until his death in 1971. The house is a National Historic Landmark and is now the site of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, which is available for viewing during the festival.
