Formerly a Childs Restaurant, DII, a neighborhood department store now has scaffolding up. Residents were concerned that the terra cotta artwork would be destroyed.

PhotosMelissaMennona Scaffolding has appeared on DII, formerly a Rite Aid drugstore located at 36-11 Broadway, in Astoria. Many residents were worried that owners may be removing the old terra cotta design elements from the top of the historic building. The building was formerly a Childs Restaurant, according to Bob Singleton, Executive Director of the Greater Astoria Historical Society (GAHS).
