Busted Teen Posted Cop-Kill Note

By Liz Goff
A Richmond Hill teenager was charged last week with plotting to kill NYPD officers, federal authorities said.

Ranbir Singh Shergill, 18, allegedly threatened to kill members of his family on May 23, with a gun he purchased in Ohio using a fake ID, court papers say.

Agents searched the family’s Richmond Hill home in May, where they recovered a Glock 17 handgun and 118 rounds of ammunition, the court papers say.

Shergill told federal agents he used $230 in Bit-coins to purchase a fake ID from an online service. The ID showed him as a 21-year-old man from Ohio, according to a criminal complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Shergill told the feds he then traveled to Ohio, where he purchased the gun for $500 from a private owner, the complaint says.  He told FBI agents he then traveled to Pennsylvania, where he showed the fake ID to purchase the ammunition.

An undated note found on Shergill’s phone following his arrest outlined a plan to kill city cops, the complaint says.

“Do it during a snowstorm,” the note read. “Go from dunkin donuts on van wyck after shooting and killing officers. they will be wearing coats and one will be male, the other female. Then try to kill other NYPD officers,” the note read, in part.

Shergill was arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court on charges of transporting a weapon across state lines, where he was held without bail.

Shergill’s attorney did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
