The Club’s Got Talent

The Variety Boys & Girls Club announced a rental agreement with Lincoln Center. They will be paying the club $4,000 this summer to use their space as the Queens location for a citywide, volunteer choir that they are developing for the world premiere of “the public domain.” In the spirit of the Mostly Mozart Festival’s conception, the world premiere of “the public domain” by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang will be a performance that not only welcomes the public as a free and open event, but will also be performed by the public. A piece inspired by the theme of the collective knowledge shared among us all, the composition will be performed on Saturday, August 13, by 1,000 volunteer vocalists from throughout New York City, conducted by Simon Halsey, Choral Director of the London Symphony Orchestra. Make your Lincoln Center debut by lending your voice to this unique event. Parents, members of the community, and even some high school students can join as a Lincoln Center conductor prepares the choir for a public performance on the plaza at Lincoln Center.
