‘Hero’ Sanitman Busted With Weapons

A 38-year-old Queens sanitation worker was arrested on May 13, after cops in Astoria who spotted him driving without headlights discovered a cache of dangerous weapons in his vehicle.

Cops said Lance Lewin was pulled over at about 2:30 p.m. by cops in Astoria, and when he exited the vehicle the officers found a dagger, a pair of metal nunchuks, a stun gun, a knife and an expandable baton on the back seat.

Lewin, who was applauded for saving a man’s life during a blizzard that struck New York City in December 2010, was charged with five counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Lewin was also issued a ticket for driving a vehicle without working headlights, police said.
