The Church-in-the-Gardens (CITG) Community House of Forest Hills Gardens, through the efforts of its Chair Jack Seng, and Past Chair Lily Zivkovic, gathered at the CH on Saturday, April 30 and along with volunteers, transported donations to the Consulate of Ecuador in Queens to be sent for the relief of the victims of the April 16 earthquake that have left a tragic trail of despair and extreme need for assistance behind it. There were at least 600 people killed, at least 16,600 injured, 58 missing, and 25,000 left homeless after 4,000 buildings were destroyed. Even homes not destroyed have been evacuated in case of aftershocks.

The donated items included food (1,650 meals), flashlights, solar chargers, disposable plastic ponchos, first aid kits, insect repellents, and water filters.
