Happy Mother’s Day, We Love You!

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8, the day we honor the woman who gave us life from her own life, nurtured us from the moment of our conception and would happily continue to do so for the rest of our lives. But depending upon how established we have become in our adulthood, and how far along our mothers have come, sometimes the shoe is on the other foot. But mom would most likely prefer it to be the way it was in the beginning, with her caring for her beloved(s). What didn’t our mothers do for us? – from teaching us most of the hundreds of daily tasks of life, large and small, to help with reading and other subjects of formal education, socializing, cultural norms and navigating the numerous spheres of modern life, morals, marketable skills, responsibility, self-esteem and self-knowledge, and how to love and what to expect in return.

Whatever the circumstances, be thankful if you have your mom around to show your love and gratitude. And take care of her to the best of your ability.

Raising another human being from infancy has to be one of the most daunting challenges there is, nearly impossible to do perfectly, no matter how sterling the intentions, but rest assured those intentions are in most cases beyond the humanly possible.

Some moms are not here to be visited and honored, they are watching over us from heaven. And some moms here are without their children. Some older women never became mothers. Maybe the two can come together, for Mother’s Day and the rest of the year. We are all members of the “Family of Man.” So to all the mothers, grandmothers, Godmothers, mothers-in-law, step-mothers, nannies, maiden aunts, and any other mother-figures, Happy Mother’s Day from the Gazette!
